According to the city governor, for Almaty, which is actively implementing transport reform, this is a good opportunity to check the clock in the expert circle and learn international experience.
The mobility of the population is the most important criterion of the quality of life in big cities. Today, thanks to subsidies, the rolling stock of carriers has been updated by 80%, nearly 1300 new buses have been purchased. Until the end of the year, the update will be increased to 100%. Next, we plan to increase the bus fleet of the city 4 times. This is largely made possible by the fact that we have withdrawn multibillion-dollar funds from the shadows, creating a transparent transport industry. In the near future, electric buses Made in Almaty will be launched on the routes. To this end, the FalconEurobus plant was opened to assemble electric buses of the 3rd generation with a fleet of 300 cars. In order to comply with the bus schedule, we have strengthened the work of the dispatching department and are taking penalties to the carriers. Last year alone, more than 560 millions tenge of subsidies were withheld from carriers, said Bauyrzhan Baybek.
The governor of the city also told that this summer work would begin on updating the trolleybus networks. At present, the design and estimate documentation is ready for the reconstruction of 172.6 km, as well as a feasibility study for the repair of electric substations and the construction of new lines of trolleybus routes. According to the governor of Almaty, this will increase the number of trolley buses on routes, the average speed and reduce the number of emergency derailments.
Bauyrzhan Baybek also noted that the start of the first BRT line allowed passengers to save time on the way by 40%. Every day more than 100 thousand passengers use the new line. As the analysis shows, during rush hours, the speed of movement of buses along Timiryazev, even taking into account stops, is 3 times higher than of cars. 122 km of dedicated lanes for public transport were organized, which made it possible to increase the speed of buses on 22 streets. The first stage of the LRT competition has been completed, the construction of 2 new metro stations continues, and another 8 new trains are being purchased to reduce the intervals. In addition, the main tourist gates of the city, Almaty-1 and Almaty-2 stations, turn into communal ownership, and work is underway to return to Sayakhat bus station. To increase the capacity, it is planned to reconstruct both railway stations. To increase the mobility of citizens, the Anytime car rental system has been introduced, the Almaty bike bike rental system is operational, and in the beginning of July, 300 electric scooters are available for rent.
