The governor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baybek during the working visit checked the tempo of work on bank protection of the Esentai river bed south of Al-Farabi Avenue. In summer, the embankment will be improved here with the arrangement of sidewalks, lighting, children’s and sports grounds. Planned planting about 4000 trees.

As of today, about 65% of the work on the bank protection of the 1.8 km section with the construction of retaining walls, reinforcement of the bottom with reinforced concrete and construction of a technical road has been completed. This measure will allow to increase the maximum capacity of the site by 10 times from the daily volume of water.

During the project realization, products of domestic production are used, manufactured at the Tokyo Rope Almaty plant. For heavy gabions that meet the highest international quality standards, the manufacturer gives more than 50 years of warranty.

The head of the city noted that special attention was paid to issues of anti-rural protection. Over the past three years, the number of flood-prone areas has been reduced from 67 to 12, reconstruction of the channels of nine rivers has been carried out, more than 300 km of arych networks have been built and reconstructed. Safety and environmental friendliness should be basic principles in the further development of the city, Bauyrzhan Baybek believes.

In addition, in Almaty it is planned to build two new selective retaining dams Aksay and Ayusay, the reconstruction of the dam Mynzhylky is being completed. Bank protection and improvement of four flood-prone rivers Ermensay, Kerenkulak, Ulken and Kishi Karasu is underway.
