IBM’s developments to be implemented in Kazakhstan’s medicine


The Minister of Healthcare recalled that in the spring of this year, during a working visit to the US, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with IBM management and discussed prospects for cooperation. Later, the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan agreed with the company on the use of artificial intelligence technology in oncology.

According to the minister, the technologies will help doctors in timely and qualitative diagnosis and correction of treatment. The program is able to study and analyze all data on the cases described in the professional literature. In addition, the development of IBM is able to provide background information based on the analysis of scientific articles published in journals.

“At the first stage, we plan to download anonymized data from the registry of cancer patients. In the pilot mode, we will check how the program will evaluate the actions of our doctors and the compliance of their methods of diagnosis and treatment with international protocols. Thanks to information technologies, doctors will have the opportunity to learn, correct treatment,” Y. Birtanov said.

Also, the Minister said that by the end of this year, mobile applications for the patronage of newborns, monitoring pregnant women, patients with diabetes will start working.

“Anyone who installs the application on their mobile phone can send a message to the appropriate doctors, establish a video communication with them and get a consultation. Our task is to ensure the safety and quality of medical care. All consultations must be registered and recorded. Now these nuances are being worked out,” the Minister specified.
