I.Tasmagambetov inspects readiness of Universiade 2017 facilities

Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 28th World Winter Universiade 2017 Imangali Tasmagambetov has inspected the readiness of Almaty and Almaty region for the forthcoming international student competition.

The Vice Prime Minister has examined today the Universiade sport venues and infrastructure, as well as the work of functional areas.

Within the retreat, I.Tasmagambetov has visited the Khalyk Arena sport complex with a seating capacity of 3,000, located in the Medeu District of Almaty, the athletic village, Almaty Arena Ice Palace, Sunkar International Ski Jumping Complex, Medeo Skating Rink and Shymbulak Ski Resort. Deputy Prime Minister has also reviewed the progress of modernization and preparation of Tabagan Sport and Entertainment Complex and Alatau ski and biathlon complex.

I.Tasmagambetov was satisfied with the pace of preparing for sporting events and gave a number of specific instructions. Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the need in a detailed approach for such a large-scale event in terms of organization and operations of all the agencies and departments involved.

I.Tasmagambetov drew attention to the need in infrastructural readiness of the city and region for holding the event and welcoming the competitors, as well as in arranging the conditions for safe and comfortable stay of the Universiade guests. He also pointed out the importance of transport and logistics systems uninterrupted service.

It is also very important for the urban services to be fully ready for smooth hosting of an international event in terms of security, energy sufficiency and the traffic load. This should not cause discontent of citizens, especially in view of the influx of visitors in Almaty and movement of athletes, coaching staff and journalists to the sites of competitions and hotels, I.Tasmagambetov stressed.
