Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Imangali Tasmagambetov held a meeting on preparation and hosting of the EXPO 2017 international specialized exhibition.

Taking part in the meeting were Akim of Astana Asset Issekeshev, Minister of Culture and Sport Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, and the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC NC Astana EXPO-2017 Marat Omarov.

Speaking about the significance of the exhibition, I. Tasmagambetov stressed once again that organization and hosting of the EXPO 2017 should depict all the achievements of the independent Kazakhstan and the appearance of the capital. In this regard there is a need to ensure the infrastructural preparation of the capital for holding the events and welcoming the guests, and to take all measures aimed at ensuring the most comfortable, safe and interesting stay of exhibition participants and guests.

In order to fulfill the instructions of the Head of State on a deeper scale, the Ministry of Culture and Sport jointly with the Akimat of Astana and JSC NC Astana EXPO-2017 should strengthen coordinated work on forming the cultural program for the exhibition period, as well as ensure the organizational arrangements on delegations and guests stay, I. Tasmagambetov noted.

It should be recalled that the Ministry of Culture and Sport jointly with the Akimat of Astana city and JSC NC Astana EXPO-2017 has developed a special comprehensive program. It provides cultural events of different genre focus: demonstration of Kazakh traditional art, theater and entertainment events, international projects, exhibitions, sport and educational activities.

As Vice Prime Minister noted, the city authorities must provide the service at the highest level. The transport infrastructure of the EXPO objects and Astana as a whole needs a serious approach in organizational matters. Particular attention should be paid to work on the improvement of transport and logistics system, optimization of public transports route network, introduction of new traffic management system.

In this regard, the Vice Prime Minister during the meeting gave a number of relevant instructions. Thus, the Astana Akim jointly with the working staff should consider in detail the engineering and transport infrastructure of the capital, namely: allow for all possibilities of modeling the traffic flows on road unloading, work out the organizational issues on the guests safe stay, and ensure the conduction of cultural activities at the highest level.

Event of this scale will obviously provide a new major impetus for development of SME and new technologies. The exhibition will attract significant private investment in the construction of exhibition facilities and capital infrastructure. At the same time, EXPO-2017 is an image project aimed at increasing the tourist attractiveness of the country, which will provide the long-term social and economic effect.
