Heads of UNDP support peace initiatives of President of Kazakhstan

According to the Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed the key issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNDP, noting its dynamism and practical content.

In particular, through the UNDP Kazakhstan carries out a number of projects on sustainable development, urbanization, governance and gender equality. So, Astana established the Regional Centre for Civil Service. The UN assists Kazakhstan in the development of official development assistance system, with the result that will provide technical assistance to developing countries in accordance with the international practice and standards on transparency and efficiency.

Particular attention of one of the heads of the UNDP was paid to the peace initiatives of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to ensure peace and security through the achievement of sustainable development. Another Kazakhstan’s initiative is aimed at strengthening the political United Nations presence in Eurasia through the establishment of the United Nations Hub in Almaty, which would unite under one roof more than 20 missions agencies, funds and programs accredited in Kazakhstan.

During the meeting the sides also discussed practical issues of participation of the entire United Nations system in the International specialized exhibition “EXPO-2017”. J.Sultanoglu having appointed Secretary General of the United Nations Commissioner for EXPO, took up her duties, and decides practical issues in preparation of the Organization’s stand.
