Head of State was informed about prospects of Turkestan development
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting on the development of the city of Turkestan, the press service of Akorda reported.
During the meeting, the Head of State was informed about the plans and prospects for the development of Turkestan, and information was provided on the execution of instructions concerning the transfer of the regional center from the city of Shymkent to the city of Turkestan.
“Everyone knows that a new region has appeared in our country � Turkestan region. I think this is the right decision. The regional center now moves to the city of Turkestan. This is a complex process in all respects”, the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the special historical and spiritual significance of Turkestan both for the residents of Kazakhstan and for the entire Turkic world.
“This is a sacred place for the Turkic people, therefore it is visited by a large number of people. Many well-known personalities sleep here”, the Head of State noted.
The reports of First Deputy Prime Minister A. Mamin on the concept of the territorial development of the city of Turkestan and Governor of Turkestan region Zh. Tuimebayev on the progress of the transfer of administrative and territorial government bodies to the new regional center were also heard. In particular, the President of Kazakhstan was informed in detail about the plans for the construction of infrastructure and social facilities, as well as proposed solutions in the field of energy supply and water supply of the city.
As a result of the meeting, the Government and the regional administration received a number of specific instructions.
