Head of State signed public law on amnesty devoted 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the amnesty is a goodwill gesture of the state.
“This is an act of mercy, hope and forgiveness towards our compatriots to improve society. The amnesty covers vulnerable categories – underage, pregnant women and women with children, disabled, elderly”, – said the President.
The Head of State stressed that over the years of independence the country conducted amnesties 8 times.
“It is expected the amnesty will cover about 28 thousand citizens. This is an important humanistic action on the eve of the anniversary of our Independence”, – said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that 1,500 people will be released from prisons, 80% of them will be on probation supervision.
