Head of State met with Minister of Information and Communications Dauren Abayev

President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Minister of Information and Communications Dauren Abayev, the press service of Akorda informed.

During the meeting, the Head of State was provided with the information on the implementation of the tasks set out in the Address “New Opportunities for Development in the Conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the need to continue work on the introduction of innovations and new technologies, as well as the use of the creative potential of the participants in the project “100 New Persons of Kazakhstan” in this process.

Also, the President of Kazakhstan dwelled on the issue of the transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin script and stressed the importance of taking measures to enhance the status of the state language.

“The process of transition to the Latin script is historically important for our people. At the same time, it is necessary to continue work on raising the status of the Kazakh language. The Parliament and the Government should work only speaking the state language. At the same time, it’s necessary not to infringe upon the rights of citizens in this matter. It is necessary to provide for them the possibility of simultaneous interpretation”, the Head of State said.

Noting the importance of a phased transition to the Latin script, the President of Kazakhstan instructed to carefully study the issue of improving the methods of teaching the Kazakh language.

In addition, Nursultan Nazarbayev focused on issues of ensuring cybersecurity and increasing the competitiveness of the domestic media.

The Head of State pointed to the need to improve the quality of serial production of domestic TV channels, and also stressed the important role of the mass media in the patriotic education of youth.

During the meeting, Dauren Abayev reported to the President of Kazakhstan on the plans for the implementation of the “Digital Kazakhstan” program and provided information on measures to clarify its priority areas.

“We continue to work on the implementation of the “Digital Kazakhstan” program. In general, the program provides 120 joint events, 20 of which will be completed this year”, the Minister of Information and Communications said.

Also D. Abayev informed Nursultan Nazarbayev about the work of the international technopark Astana Hub, created on the basis of the infrastructure of the exhibition complex “Astana EXPO-2017”.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of State gave a number of specific instructions.
