Head of newly established Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan introduced to staff

By the Presidential Decree Beibut Atamkulov was appointed Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

After introducing the new Akim of South Kazakhstan region in Shymkent to authorities of the region, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev in Astana presented to the staff of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan the new Head Beibut Atamkulov.

“Establishment of the Ministry is the demand of time. The President gave credence to B.Atamkulov in the formation of the new Ministry. It is necessary to resolve all organizational issues in the short term and to begin implementation of the President’s instructions,” B.Sagintayev said.

Main areas of activities of the Ministry include implementation of the state policy in the field of defense, aerospace and electronics industries, information security in the field of information and communications (cybersecurity), mobilization, formation and development of the state material reserve, participation in a single military-technical policy, leadership in the field of formation, placement and execution of defense contracts.

In addition, the newly formed Ministry was transferred functions and powers:

– in the defense industry – from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

– in the field of space activities – from the Ministry of Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

– in the sphere of mobilization, formation and development of the state material reserve – from the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

– in the field of information security – from the Office of Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and ensurance of information security in the field of information and communications – from the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
