Government of Kazakhstan, UNICEF sign cooperation plan for the next 5 years

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan hosted a ceremony of signing the Basic Operational Plan of the Government of Kazakhstan and UNICEF for 2016-2020.
During the ceremony Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev noted that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to further cooperation with UNICEF. Deputy Minister expressed confidence that implementing a Basic Operational Plan for the next 5 years will be another step towards effective and comprehensive promoting children`s rights and protecting their interests at the national level.
UNICEF Representative in Kazakhstan Yuri Oksamitniy noted effective collaboration with the Government of Kazakhstan and experience of their cooperation as a model for the Central Asian region.
UNICEF activities are aimed at implementing in Kazakhstan specific projects related to improving children`s conditions, including reducing child and maternal mortality, creating social environment that is friendly to children, developing inclusive society, reducing child and teen suicide, preventing violence against children, and developing juvenile justice.
