Government meeting reviews the course of privatization
Minister of National Economy Timur Suleimenov reported on the course of privatization at the Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
According to the Ministry, in 2017 � 280 facilities will be put up for sale, in 2018 � 84. The 8 largest assets of our country, such as JSC “Air Astana”, JSC NAC KazAtomProm, JSC Kazakhtelecom, JSC NC KazMunayGas, JSC Kazpost, JSC Samruk-Energy, JSC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, JSC NC Tauken-Samruk are planned to be brought to IPO/SPO in 2019-2020.
The meeting of the State Commission for Economic Modernization made decisions on the way to sell 22 assets from TOP-65, including 8 companies of National ownership and 14 companies of JSC NWF Samruk-Kazyna, and on 157 Fund assets out of 215 to be transferred to a competitive environment, the speaker noted.
Based on the results of the inventory of subordinate organizations carried out at the end of 2016, 105 organizations were included in the Comprehensive Privatization Plan, as well as 32 organizations whose activities do not comply with the Government’s decree defining the activities JSCs and LLPs can perform with participation of the Government and affiliated persons.
When creating the list of facilities, we relied on the inventory results, where it was proposed to keep 6003 organizations under state ownership, of which 88% are organizations of the social sphere, and 447 companies of the quasi-public sector, as well as to eliminate 243, � T. Suleimenov stressed.
Also, as the speaker noted, in order to ensure transparency and efficiency of privatization, attract the maximum number of potential investors, JSC KAZNEX INVEST created an additional internet resource – www.privatization.gov.kz, which provides information on privatization targets and highlights the implementation of the Comprehensive Privatization Plan.
It should be reminded that the task of completing the privatization of organizations included in the Comprehensive Plan by the end of 2018 is entrusted to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Presidential Address ” Third Modernization of Kazakhstan: Global Competitiveness”
