Government considers measures to prevent growth of prices for socially important food commodities
Since the beginning of 2018, prices for socially important food products increased by 0.7%. The greatest increase in prices since the beginning of the year is indicated in Astana, Almaty, Aktobe, Taraz, Uralsk, Atyrau and Pavlodar.
According to the MA RK, the main growth in prices falls on such types of agricultural products as cabbage ?12.7%, onions ?7.4%, potatoes ?5.5%, carrots ?4.5%. The prices have risen for dairy products, beef. For other types of goods, price growth is either not observed, or it is insignificant. There is also a decrease in prices for buckwheat ?14,8%, rice ?2,7%, eggs ?1,3%, granulated sugar ?0,8%, flour and salt ?0,2%.
“In general, the increase in prices is seasonal in nature and is linked to the costs and losses in the storage of products, a decrease in the supply of vegetable products due to a reduction in inventories, as well as an increase in the cost of goods and services that directly affect the cost of production and transportation costs,” A. Yevniev noted.
In the regions for January 2018, 2178 tons of food products were purchased by the stabilization fund. The bulk of the purchase was made by Zhambyl (2000 tons of sugar), Pavlodar (68 tons of rice) and WKR (60 tons of rice).
5538 tons of food products were sold, including 2541 tons of potatoes (45.9%), 762 tons of carrots (13.8%), 618.6 tons of onions (11.2%), 577.3 tons of cabbage (10.4%), 504.1 tons of the first grade flour (9.1%).
According to the akimat of the regions, Almaty and Astana, as of February 25, the actual availability in the Stabilization Fund is 8136.7 tons of foodstuffs, 14 257.8 tons were transferred to refreshment and storage. In the general structure in stock and in warehouses, sand (35.4% of the total volume), potatoes (24.4%), onion (9.6%), carrots (5.8%), grade I (5.6%), cabbage (5.4%), vegetable oil (5.2%) and buckwheat groats (3.5%).
“There is 4423 million tenge for the formation of stabilization funds on the accounts of agricultural cooperatives and deposits of second-tier banks,” A. Yevniev summed up.
Akim of Astana, A. Issekeshev, akim of Atyrau region, N. Nogayev, West Kazakhstan region, A. Kulginov, Aktobe region, B. Saparbayev, Almaty, B. Baybek, first deputy akim of Mangistau region, S. Amangaliyev, reported on the prevailing price situation for the products of the first necessity.
Following the consideration, the Prime Minister B. Sagintayev recalled the responsibility of local executive bodies for preventing the growth of food prices and instructed the akimats to strengthen control over the unjustified price increase taking into account the upcoming holidays.
