Government considers measures to develop and modernize cultural facilities

Today, the Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev discussed the measures on developing and modernizing cultural facilities.

Minister of Culture and Sport Arystanbek Mukhamediuly reported on the work carried out to systematize the activities of National cultural institutions. Minimum State standards and model personnel establishments of state cultural organizations have been approved.

In addition, the Government plans to take measures to organize free access to theaters and museums to all categories of citizens on certain days, and for schoolchildren – within the framework of thematic lessons and during school holidays.

According to A. Mukhamediuly, amendments and additions have been introduced to the Law On Culture, which are approved at the level of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the amendments, the issue of creation, liquidation and reorganization of cultural organizations will be solved only through coordination with the Ministry. A rule is being developed regulating the procedure for acquiring socially significant literature, the selection of which will be carried out at the level of the interdepartmental commission under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, accounting disbursement.

As the Minister noted, it is planned to create the National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books on the basis of the National Archive. And with the goal of consolidating the library community, for the first time 9 Centers of Kazakh literature have been opened abroad by the National Academic Library � in China, Turkey, Russia, Finland, Korea, Armenia, Malaysia, Hungary and Kyrgyzstan. A large-scale international project “Library Tourism” has been launched, covering libraries in Kazakhstan, near and far abroad, the Minister said.

Today, 7853 cultural organizations function in the Republic, including 64 theaters, 4118 libraries, 238 museums, 39 concert organizations, 94 cinemas, 3296 cultural leisure and entertainment centers, and 4 circuses. 38 organizations are of National significance.
