German Cinema Days to be held in Kyrgyzstan


On Nov.8�20 Kyrgyzstan will host the KinoGerMania German Cinema Days on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the press service of the German Embassy in Kyrgyzstan reported.

The film screening will take place in Bishkek, Karakol and Naryn. The films will be shown in German with Russian subtitles.

The events of November 1989 were of historical significance far beyond Germany’s borders, ending the Cold War and leading not only to German reunification, but also to the formation of new states, including independent Kyrgyzstan.

In order to recall once again the landmark events that have changed the world, the German Embassy and the Goethe Institute of Kazakhstan invite everyone to the screening of German films, the invitation runs.

Train of Freedom, Westwind, Bornholmer Street, Hood Bye, Lenin! and The Silence famous films will be presented to the audience.

The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989.

The Wall cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany, including East Berlin. The barrier included guard towers placed along large concrete walls.
