Foreign Ministers of CSTO member-states meet in Almaty

The Foreign Ministers of CSTO member-states are holding a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of this organization in Almaty.

The latest meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO CFM) began in Almaty under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov.

Opening the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan congratulated Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the Day of Russia, as well as the swift opening of the FIFA World Cup. He also congratulated his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on his recent appointment.

I express my gratitude that, despite the tight work schedules, you have found the opportunity to come to Almaty and take part personally in this event. I wish everyone fruitful work, �Kairat Abdrakhmanov said.

The agenda of the meeting includes 12 issues. The Ministers will discuss issues of foreign policy coordination within the organization, topical issues of international and regional security.

Within the framework of the meeting, there will be an exchange of views on countering modern cross-border challenges and threats, primarily from terrorist organizations.

The Ministers will also consider the peacekeeping component of the CSTO in the context of the Roadmap (Action Plan) developed by the CSTO Secretariat Creating the conditions for using the CSTO peacekeeping potential in the interests of the UN international peace-keeping (for the period from 2018 to 2021).

The participants will also consider the draft statement On the Situation around the INF Treaty, the draft decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council On the Protocol on Cooperation between the CSTO and the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Crescent, “On the Action Plan for the Development of Coordinated Information Policy in the Interests of CSTO Member-states , the draft Agreement on cooperation of the CSTO member states in the field of combating illegal migration.
