Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V. Hajiyev met with appointed British Ambassador to Turkmenistan Stephen Conlon on May 22, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported. The British diplomat presented copies of his credentials. Hajiyev congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a post and expressed the readiness of the Turkmen side to assist in his diplomatic activities. The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. It was stated that bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UK is developing based on the principles of respect, equality and mutual benefit. An important event in interstate relations was the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the solemn events dedicated to the coronation ceremony of King Charles III in London on May 6 this year, according to the Turkmen diplomat. The Turkmen side also noted that country attaches great importance to parliamentary diplomacy. I was proposed to focus on the further development and strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations. The similarity of the positions of the two countries on the most important issues of international and regional politics was noted.
