Foreign Minister discussed plans for cooperation with ambassadors of Arab countries
ASTANA, Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov held a working meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine and Saudi Arabia.
The President pays special attention to strengthening of comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Arab world, the Minister emphasized. The ambassadors familiarized themselves with the new powers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in promoting foreign investments and promotion of Kazakhstani exports abroad. B. Atamkulov noted the interest of Kazakhstan in the development of trade and economic relations, as well as joint investment projects in energy, logistics, agriculture and other spheres.
Until now, it has been noted that the vast potential of cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres has not yet been fully used by most Arab countries.
In 2018, the volume of aggregate commodity turnover with all 22 Arab countries in Kazakhstan will be $ 1 billion. US dollars, and today the total volume of investments is KZT2,4 bln. US dollars. At the same time, the sum is about $ 9 billion. It was noted that joint projects with US $ million are being swallowed.
In order to enhance trade and economic cooperation, special attention was paid to the problems of transport and logistics, the need to develop tourism potential by simplifying the visa regime.
In this regard, the Kazakh Foreign Minister urged Arab counterparts to take active steps in all areas of bilateral cooperation.
B. Atamkulov also confirmed his participation in the 46th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which will be held on March 1-2 this year in Abu Dhabi. He noted that the agenda includes a wide range of issues concerning our countries. The Foreign Minister said that within the framework of the event, he will meet with the OIC Foreign Ministers, including the Arab ministers.
