First inter-ministerial Kyrgyz-Italian consultations in Bishkek

Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the first inter-ministerial consultations between Kyrgyzstan and Italy in the history of diplomatic relations of the two countries.

The ?onsultations were held at the level of Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Ministry Azizbek Madmarov and Italy’s Deputy Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Manlio Di Stefano.

According to the Kyrgyz MFA’s press service, in the course of the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest in bilateral, regional and multilateral formats, including cooperation within the framework of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia.

The Italian side supported the holding next year the first EU-CA Economic Forum in the Kyrgyz Republic, which will allow expanding economic cooperation.

Manlio Di Stefano noted with satisfaction the decision of the Kyrgyz side to establish a diplomatic representation of the Kyrgyz Republic in Rome, expressing readiness to provide the necessary assistance in this matter.

Madmarov attached importance to the activation of cooperation in political, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as within the framework of international organizations.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of increasing cooperation in trade and economic and investment spheres, as well as creation of necessary bilateral legal instruments for protection and attraction of investments and search for new ways of increasing mutual trade turnover.
