First EU-CA economic forum to be held in Bishkek in 2020
The 16th meeting of the Committee on Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union was held in Brussels on Nov. 28, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Azizbek Madmarov. The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic also included representatives of ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The EU delegation was led by head of the Office of the European External Action Service for Russia, the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and the OSCE, Luc Devin.
The EU delegation also included officials from the European External Relations Service, the EU Directorate General for Development, Cooperation and Trade, and the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting participants discussed issues related to the 1st EU-CA Economic Forum, which will be held in 2020 in Bishkek.
The sides discussed initiatives to implement the new Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU, as well as the implementation of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia.
The European side noted the achievements of Kyrgyzstan in the field of democracy, and also expressed the importance of continuing reforms aimed at strengthening the rule of law.
The Kyrgyz side also informed about the comprehensive measures and achievements in the field of flight safety. In this regard, the possibility of withdrawal of the Kyrgyz Republic from the EU black list was discussed.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan in 2020 and the possibility of using advanced technologies for the identification and automatic counting of votes.
