Epidemiological situation with respect to influenza and URTI is stable Health Ministry

According to recent reports, on 44th week of 2019, from Oct. 28 to Nov. 4, 2019 there is a stable epidemiological situation on the incidence of upper respiratory tract infection (URTI).

Compared to the previous 43th week of 2019 55.4 (3503 cases) of influenza and URTI, incidence of influenza and URTI on 44th week, 2019 made 54.4 (3439 cases), -1.8% lower, and 10.1% lower compared to the same period of 2018 (44 weeks of 2018 – 60.5).

Children under the age of 14 are mainly affected by the disease, accounting for 69.2 per cent of all illnesses.

Increase incidence in Kyrgyzstan is typical for December, with the peak of morbidity in January and February of the following year.

According to the annual laboratory monitoring, in October-November, viruses of non-fluvial etiology (parainfluenza, adenoviruses, PC viruses) circulate. There is no laboratory confirmation of influenza cases.

The Ministry of Health purchased 150,534 doses of influenza vaccines for at-risk groups (medical workers, people with chronic diseases, often sick children, pregnant women, people over 65 years of age) and distributed them throughout the country. As of Nov. 4, the vaccination coverage was 92%.
