Baku: Electricity production in Azerbaijan has witnessed a significant shift towards green energy sources, despite a slight overall decrease in output. In the first ten months of the current year, Azerbaijan produced 23,847.3 million kWh of electricity, marking a 0.8% reduction compared to the previous year.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the bulk of electricity during this period was generated at Thermal Power Plants, accounting for 20,532.0 million kWh. Hydropower Plants contributed 2,563 million kWh, and other sources provided 752.3 million kWh. Notably, wind power plants produced 44.8 million kWh, solar power plants generated 515.3 million kWh, and the Solid Waste Incineration Plant supplied 192.2 million kWh.
The data underscores a substantial increase in electricity production from green energy sources, which grew by 1,495 million kWh over the same period last year, reaching a total of 3,315.3 million kWh. This development highlights Azerbaijan’s ongoing commitment to expanding its renewable en
ergy sector.
