Deputy Prime Minister inspects Winter Universiade facilities
Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Chairman of XXVIII World Winter Universiade Organizing Committee Imangali Tasmagambetov has inspected today the facilities of large-scale sporting event to be held in Almaty.
The final preparation phase requires careful consideration from all the services. According to the Deputy Prime Ministers Secretariat, the transport service and road safety issues are the most substantial work clusters.
We gained some experience in arranging transport logistics from the OSCE Summit and the Asian Winter Games. It can be applied in transporting delegations, sports teams, but there are at the same time such issues as increased traffic load during the torch delay. So additional measures must be considered for unloading the streets and avoiding inconvenience of the cities of Kazakhstan, especially Almaty and Astana, Vice Prime Minister said at the retreat.
Imangali Tasmagambetov noted that there is a need to arrange full infrastructural development of the facilities in accordance with the required specifications � both standards and safety in operation. The Vice Prime Minister instructed Almaty akim Bauyrzhan Baibek jointly with interested city departments and services to arrange the working commissions with the mandatory implementation of safety requirements and rules of operation at facilities with mass stay of people.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan also set a task to work out the compliance with the functional requirements for each of the facilities � venues of competition � with the participation of the Organizing Committee representatives; and to perform the necessary scope of work on landscaping, outdoor lightning and decoration, equipping parking lots in accordance with the projects of landscaping and infrastructure development.
I would especially like to dwell on the importance of training our athletes and conducting opening ceremony. This major world competition is of great importance and should effectively promote sports and healthy lifestyle, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
There is less than a month before the start of the XXVIII World Winter Universiade. The set-up comes to an end. Imangali Tasmagambetov compared notes and instructed to provide additional measures to timely prepare sport venues and facilities, hotels, restaurants, transport system and communications, other urban infrastructure facilities for welcoming foreign delegations and teams, media representatives, tourists and visitors.
Imangali Tasmagambetov also inspected the Sunkar international ski jumping complex, the equipment to be used during the Universiade, volunteer group, the information center and Universiade attributes.
