Deputy Prime Minister hears reports of regional heads on preparations for the flood period

Today First Deputy Prime Minister Askar Mamin chaired a regular selector meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for State emergency management.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs K. Kassymov, heads of the government agencies, deputy Akims of regions, and heads of emergency management departments of the regions (in selector mode), heads of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, JSC KEGOC, RSE Kazhydromet, National Center for seismological observation.

On the readiness of the management bodies, forces and means of the state system of civil protection for the flood period reported the Deputy Minister of Energy B. Dzhaksaliyev, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Y. Ilyin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture E. Nyssanbayev, Deputy Minister of Investments and Development A. Rau.

According to the reports, there has been prepared a set of measures for the prevention of emergencies during the flood period. In case of evacuation from areas of possible flooding in the regions , there were appointed a number of stations for receiving the evacuated population, equipment has been prepared, as well as boats and helicopters. According to the CES, a total of 918 settlements are located in regions of possible flooding, which are home to over 402 thousand people.

Summing up the meeting of the interdepartmental committee, First Deputy Prime Minister noted that the preparations for the flood period are being constantly monitored by the Government.

He stressed the need for timely execution of preventive measures for the flood period, and the need to ensure its safe passing.

Every state body within their competence must perform the full range of activities for prevention of emergencies during the flood period. We need to avoid repetition of the events of past years, when communities and citizens of several regions of our country suffered, � Mamin noted.

He reminded of the responsibility of the heads of both central and local executive bodies.

As a result of the interdepartmental commission meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister gave a number of instructions to the heads of central and local executive authorities on the implementation of preventive measures.
