Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs conducts a fly-by of the flood zones in Karaganda region

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yuri Ilyin together with the Akim of Karaganda region Yerlan Koshanov conducted a fly-by of the flood zones of Karaganda region.

There have been major floods in the region in the past two years, which is why the Deputy Minister personally inspected flood-prone areas from a helicopter.

He inspected the territories of villages in Bukhar-Zhyrau, Karkaralinsky, Shetsky, Abay, Nurinsky districts, and checked the condition of Nura and Sherubay-Nura riverbeds. The fly-by route ran through the Samarkand reservoir, villages of Gabiden Mustafin, Petrovka, Botakara, Sheshenkara of the Bukhar-Zhyrau district, villages of Yntaly, settlements of Matak, Koktas, Akzhol, Besoba and the Taldy station of the Karkaralynsky district, settlements of Nurtaldy, Krasnaya Polyana and the Karamuryn station of the Shetsky district.

Further, the route ran through villages of Kulaigyr, Samarka of the Abay district, Intumak reservoir, settlements of Akmeshit, Baytugan Shakhterskoye and Maiorovka of the Nurinsky district.

The Deputy Minister instructed to create a sufficient reserve of reservoirs for flood waters, suggesting that the Samarkand, Cherubai-Nurinsk, Intumak and Zharta reservoirs may not be able to contain flood water flows.

It is instructed of carry out timely regulation of water removing in the flood period, � the department press service noted.

On the territory of the Karaganda region, active spring activities began on March 30, in connection with the increasing air temperature regimes and major precipitation. Floods were observed in 6 districts of the region: Karaganda, Temirtau, Bukhar-Zhyraau, Karkaralinsky, Shetsky, and Zhana-Arkinsky districts.

Since the beginning of floods, 21 residential houses and 44 yards have been flooded. At present, there are no flooded houses and yards.
