Darkhan Kaletayev meets with the Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan
Today, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Kaletayev, held a meeting with Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Kazakhstan Traian Laurentiu Hristea.
The meeting focused on topical issues of bilateral relations, an exchange of views took place on issues of civil society development, NGO grant funding, support of vulnerable sections of the population, and opposition to religious extremism.
Darkhan Kaletayev elaborated on the measures taken to ensure the rights of citizens to freedom of conscience and the creation of favorable conditions for the work of religious associations, as well as state support for non-governmental organizations.
The Minister separately dwelled on proposed amendments to the legislation regulating religious activity and noted that all steps taken are designed to form a solid foundation of stability and security both in our country and in the region as a whole.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan reported on the ongoing work in the framework of regional cooperation, the situation with human rights in Kazakhstan and expressed interest in developing cooperation with the Ministry.
The parties also discussed the participation of the delegation of the European Parliament in the 15th meeting of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Republic of Kazakhstan-European Union, which is scheduled for May 10-11 this year.
In conclusion, the meeting participants noted the importance of constructive cooperation, deepening of relations between Kazakhstan and the EU.
