Ministers of Energy of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan – Bolat Akchulakov, Taalaibek Ibraev and Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed a roadmap for the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1.

The press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic said that the meeting of the parties was held in Bishkek. The ministers agreed on the implementation of the project in compliance with the comprehensive interests, as a result of which they signed a document. The heads of the ministries of energy of the three republics agreed on the main conditions for the implementation of the project and outlined the next steps for the timely commissioning of the power plant.

The timing of commissioning will be determined after the development of a feasibility study, but preparations for the start of construction of the facility are already underway today, the press service of the Ministry of Energy added.

According to the agency, as part of the preparations, tracks are being laid and a bridge is being built, as well as power lines and construction sites are being prepared.

The capacity of the power facility will be 1860 megawatts, which allows Kyrgyzstan to solve the problem of electricity shortages. The work of the HPP will be controlled by a joint venture of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which provides electricity to the countries of Central Asia and stabilize the water supply of the region. All parties supported this decision.
