Construction of checkpoint at Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border to begin this month


According to the agreement, reached between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, construction of Ak-Zhol – Avtodorozhnyi modern checkpoint will begin at the end of January 2020, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev said at the meeting on the modernization and reconstruction of the Ak-Zhol – Avtodorozhnyi checkpoint.

“We all know that this checkpoint is one of the busiest. Therefore, all works should be accelerated and completed in time. At the same time, during the repair work, there is need to study the possibility of building a temporary bridge to organize foot crossing of the state border, Abylgaziev said.

He stressed the work should meet all construction standards.

“The checkpoint will have not only an expanded administrative block, but also a sports town, a small cynological center, a construction site, parking lot, with the updated roadway.

Thus, all conditions for service at the checkpoint will be created. By this, we are improving the conditions of border crossing, both for our citizens and guests, PM Abylgaziev said, adding that he would personally monitor the progress of construction.

The Ak-Zhol – Avtodorozhnyi checkpoint scheduled to be closed for repair in late January 2020.

After completion of all works the capacity of this checkpoint will be tripled. The number of cabins for passport control, as well as vehicle inspection will be increased.
