Closing Ceremony of 37th AIPA General Assembly.

The Closing Ceremony of 37th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary General Assembly (AIPA) was held on October 2nd 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Ya Ma Nya Hall, Hotel Royal ACE, Nay Pyi Taw.. In his closing speech at this ceremony, the President of AIPA and the Speaker of Union Parliament of Myanmar H.E Mahn Win Khaing Than mentioned that AIPA and ASEAN require close relations to face new challenges to reach ASEAN goals.

He remarked AIPA needs to work closely with the ASEAN to overcome the new challenges as we are moving towards ASEAN Vision 2025.

He also encouraged AIPA parliamentarians to keep the public aware of goals and activities of AIPA and to monitor its accomplishments and resolution results.

Moving forward, I call upon AIPA Parliaments to continue raising awareness of AIPA’s goals and activities among the people by taking the advantage of their role as the Members of Parliament. It is also important to do more in-depth monitoring of AIPA’s achievements and the outcomes of its resolutions said H.E Mahn Win Khaing Than.

After the speech, H.E Mahn Win Khaing Than handed over the AIPA Presidency to H.E Raneo E.Abu, Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives of Philippines. The closing ceremony concluded with the acceptance speech by the new AIPA President who highlighted AIPA’s Intention to craft a new architecture of cooperation with ASEAN which upholds the principles and norms enshrined in the ASEAN Charter and to support a people-centered ASEAN Community.

The closing ceremony was followed by the press conference made by the chairs of 37th AIPA committees.
