Measures are being taken to increase the throughput at checkpoints and optimize the processes of passing goods and vehicles on the border with Uzbekistan in accordance with the order of the Kazakh government, Vlast.kz reports with reference to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance. An interdepartmental working group has been created, consisting of the State Revenue Committee, the Border Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. An operational meeting of the working group with authorized state bodies of Uzbekistan was held at the border the day before. A list of problem areas was compiled following the meeting, and a set of appropriate measures was adopted to resolve problematic aspects of accumulation at the border. “The redistribution of traffic flows was carried out. A significant amount was sent to the reconstructed B. Konysbaev checkpoint. The checkpoints were transferred to an enhanced mode of operation, the amount of staff was increased to speed up the passage of vehicles across the border. The main dispatching department of the State Revenue Committee switched to round-the-clock mode of operation for the release of goods,” the State Revenue Committee said. In addition, negotiations were held with the customs, border and other services of Uzbekistan to increase the number of acceptance of goods and vehicles in both directions and fasten control operations at the border. The working group will inspect the work of all checkpoints on both sides in near future. According to the State Revenue Committee, the import of fruits and vegetables to Kazakhstan from Uzbekistan has increased since May due to the seasonal period.
