Cargo worth 24 billion US dollars ready to be transported along “Western Europe – Western China” corridor
Cargo worth 24 billion US dollars ready to be transported along “Western Europe – Western China” corridor, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the Kazakh-Russian business forum.
“We have a great potential in a road transport. We have almost completed the construction of the Kazakh section of highway “Western Europe – Western China”, it is a real highway of 2,700 kilometers long. Its construction came to the Russian border in Aktobe region. I believe that intensification of work by the Russian side on this road will significantly increase the cargo transportation across the corridor, and China completed its part of the work to the Pacific Ocean,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The Head of State also noted that Kazakhstan has implemented a number of other large infrastructure projects.
“It resulted in optimization of configuration of international corridors. There are created a variety of routes and their complementarities. This should allow to refocus international transit routes from the sea to the land. Today, we have reported that this highway is credible, and it is planned to transport through it goods worth 24 billion US dollars. It is important to pool our efforts and synchronize work in this direction,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
