Bicycle track of 30 years ago was repaired in Almaty
The opening of a modern cycle track took place in Almaty in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation. Built in 1979, the facility did not function for about 30 years. The cycle track was reconstructed on the principles of a public-private partnership with the sponsorship of the Samruk-Kazyna Trust.
The governor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baybek and chairman of the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund Akhmetzhan Yesimov took part in the solemn event.
Within the framework of the project, special-purpose tracks were laid, a skate park, a deer-track, a pamp-track, modular rooms and a spectator stand with 200 seats were installed. Landscaping and planting 150 trees.
Today, Almaty is actively working to create a modern sports infrastructure. Along with the reconstruction of public and pedestrian spaces, bike lanes are being built, and the Almaty Bike urban bicycle rental service has been introduced. The international professional highway cycling “Tour of Almaty” is held annually; the continental cycling team “Apple Team” is created.
In turn, the new sports facility will be actively used for the development and popularization of cycling among children and young people. It is planned to provide a cycle track for students of sports schools in the city, free classes for cycling children from large and low-income families, various competitions and sporting events, as well as training for the Apple Team cycling team.
It should be noted that the Central Park of Culture and Recreation itself was updated within the framework of the Rukhany zanggyru program. The management company invested about 1.6 billion tenge of private funds for the construction of new fountains, children’s and sports grounds. Updated lighting poles, asphalt pavement and paving slabs; navigation installed.
In the very center of the park, where car parking was located, sports grounds, street workout, basketball and football fields, rollerdrome and skaytodrome were built.
On the east side of the summer scene, a new fountain with an installation of apple trees appeared. In addition, reconstructed fountain, not working for more than 10 years.
Within the framework of the Almaty 2020 Development Program adopted in 2015, 60% of the historical center, almost 600 streets and more than 1,400 old courtyards with the construction of children’s and sports grounds were repaired in the metropolis. A third of street lighting was translated into LED and energy-saving lamps, 300 km of aryks and about 2000 km of utility networks were replaced. Updated all subways of the city.
This year it is planned to repair more than 600 courtyards, covering 50% of all urban high-rises. Medium repairs started over 120 streets. In addition, new roads will be built on 456 streets in 14 microdistricts of the city. On the outskirts of the city, a number of parks, squares and pedestrian zones will be landscaped. In order to create a safe urban environment, new LED lamps will additionally be installed on more than 120 city streets.
