Kazakh cosmonauts Toktar Aubakirov, Talgat Musabayev and Aidyn Aimbetov attended the solemn event in honor of the International Day of Human Space Flight at the invitation of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry (MDAI).

“April 12 is a special day in the history of world cosmonautics. 56 years ago, on April 12, 1961, the first man of the Earth, Soviet pilot Yuri Gagarin conquered the universe, opening the era of manned space exploration. Senior Lieutenant Gagarin launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, built in the Kazakh steppes by the labor of thousands of Soviet people. And we are justifiably proud that our country has a direct relationship to the establishment of world cosmonautics, the Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry Beibut Atamkulov said, welcoming the guests of honor and specialists of KazCosmos.

Minister Atamkulov stressed that the exploration of outer space is currently a serious resource of national development, a real improvement in people’s quality of life.

Over the past decade, Kazakhstan has taken real steps to create the country’s space industry, but it is necessary to do even more to fulfill the tasks set by the Head of State, he stressed.

Within the framework of the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mikhail Bocharnikov presented the Head of JSC Republican Center of Space Communication (RCSC) with a Letter of Appreciation of the President of Russia. The letter of the Head of the Russian State expressed gratitude to the RCSC “for contribution to strengthening economic and scientific-technical cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

Kazakhstan, with Aidyn Aimbetov’s space flight, became one of the few countries to send three or more astronauts to space. At the request of schoolchildren, students, educational institutions of the country, KazCosmos released an information book Cosmonauts of Kazakhstan, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry Marat Nurguzhin said.

First copies of Cosmonauts of Kazakhstan, commissioned by KazCosmos on the eve of Cosmonautics Day, were presented to the cosmonauts.

Presenting the publication, the compiler of the book, Baikonur journalist Sara Nurgaliyeva noted that in preparing data on space flights, open information sources were used with corrections by the Kazakh cosmonauts themselves.

In a solemn atmosphere, employees of the Aerospace Committee (ASC) of the MDAI and specialists of KazCosmos enterprises were presented with diplomas and letters of appreciation from the Minister.

Awarding of the winners of the traditional sports tournament for the prize of KazCosmos was held by Chairman of ASC of the MDAI Erkin Shaimagambetov and adviser to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Musabayev.

I am glad that I have the opportunity to congratulate my colleagues on this holiday, among which there are those with whom we started this work 25 years ago, the first cosmonaut of Kazakhstan Toktar Aubakirov said, who in 1992 was tasked by the President with creating the first National Aerospace Agency in the history of the of Kazakhstan. Today there is a successful establishment of Kazakhstan’s space industry, and this is a fact, T. Aubakirov said.

Talgat Musabayev, who since 2007 headed the National Space Agency and for almost 10 years supervised the work of KazCosmos, in his speech, also noted Kazakhstan’s successes in the development of space activities.

Today, all sectors of KazCosmos employ professionals, specialists, who have gained experience in space technologies of the world’s most advanced companies. Not coincidentally do we pay paramount attention to the training of personnel, Talgat Musabayev said, congratulating KazCosmos employees on their professional holiday.
