Bakytzhan Sagintayev meets with the Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan Traian Hristea
Today in Ukimet Uyi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev held a meeting with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Kazakhstan Traian Hristea.
The meeting focused on issues of implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union, expansion of trade and economic cooperation and attraction of foreign investments.
For reference: Kazakhstan’s trade and economic relations with the European Union remain at a high level. The EU is the main trade and investment partner of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It accounts for 50% of Kazakhstan’s foreign trade turnover and more than half of the attracted foreign capital in the economy of our country.
Kazakhstan’s foreign trade turnover with the EU countries in January-March 2018 amounted to 9 billion USD (January-March 2017 – 6.8 billion USD). For the period of January to December 2017 this figure was 30 billion USD (exports – 24.2 billion USD, imports – 5.7 billion USD), which corresponds to 49.8% of the total foreign trade volume of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the amount of 60.2 billion USD.
In 2017, out of the total of 20.7 billion USD foreign investments attracted, the gross inflow of direct foreign investments from the European Union has reached 9.8 billion USD. The main investing countries are the Netherlands (4.4 billion USD), Belgium (960.6 million USD), France (595.3 million USD), Great Britain (418.8 million USD), Germany (280.8 million USD) and Luxembourg (276, 8 million USD).
The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EU countries in January-February 2018 amounted to 5.5 billion USD, which is 32.6% higher than in the same period last year (4.2 billion USD).
Exports from Kazakhstan to EU countries in January-February 2018 increased 35.2% and amounted to 4.7 billion USD. Imports to the Republic of Kazakhstan from the EU countries in January-February 2018 increased 19.6% and amounted to 837.7 million USD.
