Bakytzhan Sagintayev meets with representatives of UNDP and the Asian Development Bank in Kazakhstan
Today in Ukimet Uyi, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for Kazakhstan, Norimasa Shimomura, and the Asian Development Bank Country Director for Kazakhstan, Giovanni Capannelli.
The meeting covered issues of achieving the objectives to ensure high standards and quality of living of Kazakhstan’s population, taking into account the consonance of the country’s program documents and the UN development goals. The discussion particularly focused on implementing methodology and reaching indicators of the country’s sustainable development goals.
For reference: At the September 25 UN Summit in 2015, all UN member states adopted the Global Development Agenda “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” (hereinafter SDG).
SDGs consist of 17 goals to be achieved by 2030, as well as related 169 tasks and 230 indicators. SDGs are meant to contribute to the pursuit of sustainable development through integrating three components: economic, social and environmental. SDGs are the benchmark and model of methodological recommendations for developing development strategies by countries and intergovernmental organizations.
