Bakytzhan Sagintayev meets with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon
Today in Astana, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who is in our country on an official visit.
The meeting focused on issues of the current state and expansion of trade-and-economic- cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, agriculture, transportation, transboundary water use, civil aviation, migration, healthcare, culture, education and science. In addition, the sides considered promising areas of interregional linkage, direct contacts between business structures of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, as well as issues of export potential of the two countries.
As is known, yesterday, on March 14, the Head of State N. Nazarbayev met with President of Tajikistan E. Rahmon in both narrow and enlarged formats. During the meetings, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for their further development.
For reference: Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tajikistan were established on 07.01.1993. Tajikistan is Kazakhstan’s second major trading partner in the Central Asian region, which accounts for about 20% of total trade with the countries of the region.
Turnover for January-December 2017 amounted to 776.3 million USD, which is 31.5% higher than for the same period last year (590.2 million USD). Export from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan in 2017 increased 23.3% and amounted to 458.7 million USD.
