Bakytzhan Sagintayev meets with Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Hanhui
Today in Ukimet Uyi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhang Hanhui.
The discussion focused on issues of further strengthening of trade and economic cooperation with China in the fields of energy, industry, metallurgy, machine building, transport and agriculture, implementation of joint projects in the field of digital and transportlogistics infrastructure, technologies and competencies of Industry 4.0, data center development.
For reference: Diplomatic relations between China and Kazakhstan were established on January 3, 1992.
In 2017, China became the largest foreign trade partner of Kazakhstan. PRC’s share in the total volume of trade turnover with other countries amounted to 17.4% (exports 13.4%, imports 27.5%).
The volume of bilateral trade amounted to $ 10.5 billion (+ 32.6% compared to 2016), of which exports from Kazakhstan $ 5.8 billion (+ 36.6%), imports to Kazakhstan $ 4.7 billion (+27, 9%).
In December 2016, to finance projects within the framework of the Program for the Development of Production Capacities, the KazakhstanChina Fund for Cooperation of Production Capacities with an authorized capital of $ 2 billion was established.
The turnover of agricultural products and products of its processing between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $ 345 million, an increase of 32% compared to 2016 ($ 261 million).
Exports of agricultural products to China in 2017 amounted to $ 180.5 million and increased 34.3% (from $ 134.4 million to $ 180.5 million). Exports of wheat amounted to 306.9 thousand tonnes for the amount of $ 57.5 million (in 2016 wheat exports amounted to 281.1 thousand tonnes or $ 52.4 million).
