The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, met with representatives of Chevron, Citigroup, Bloomberg, WR Berkley Group, GE Transportation, OSI Systems, Pfizer, Cisco, Robomatter Inc. , IBM Watson Center, Autodesk, Tesla Motors, Bridge West Group, Learn Capital, Sound Hound, Uber, DFJ, Silicon Valley Innovation Center, Plug and Play Tech Center, Google, Jabil and Microsoft.

Issues of cooperation in the areas of IT technologies, engineering, energy, mining, chemical, food and processing industries, telecommunications, transport of the future, construction, education, healthcare and improving the quality of life were discussed.

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, B.Sagintayev, held a meeting with representatives of the largest financial institutions of the USA in New York. Among them: Citigroup, Mastercard, Berkley, Morgan Stanley, Black Rock, Goldman Sachs, world rating agencies Moody’s, Standard and Poor’s and Fitch, as well as Greylock Capital, American International Group, Guggenheim International, Alliance Bernstein, Public Capital Advisors, Business Council of International Understanding. The topical issues of the development of the world economy and economic policy of Kazakhstan, as well as opportunities for implementing joint projects, attracting investments, financing infrastructure projects and asset management were discussed.

As part of a working visit to the United States, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, met with former mayors of New York Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg. During the talks, issues of cooperation in the development of telecommunications infrastructure, as well as in the development of Astana International Financial Center were discussed. In addition, an important result of the meetings was the agreement on the opening of Bloomberg office and TV channel in Astana.

Also, Bakytzhan Sagintayev and leading US companies I Scuared Capital, General Electric, Grace, Robotti and Company Advisors, AGCO, AES, Black and Veatch, American Industrial Acquisition Corporation discussed attraction of investments and new technologies to the economy of Kazakhstan.

In addition, an agreement to attract investments in the production of technological equipment in Kazakhstan and with Rahal Foods to launch organic food production was reached within the framework of the meeting with OSI Systems, Pfizer and GE Transportation.

During negotiations with major IT companies, a number of important Memorandums for Kazakhstan were signed. In particular, the Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Zerde and Cisco. Cisco is ready to finance the launch of pilot projects (self-service kiosks for remote provision of public services, Cisco Network Academy, digital mine, IoT network, Smart Lighting, etc.) in Kazakhstan.

Following the trip of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the IBM Watson West Center, a Memorandum between IBM and ACP PIT on the creation of a laboratory within the start-up hub in Astana for applied research in the areas of financial technologies, Smart City and technology for urban construction and operation management was signed.

Also, Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with Vice President of Autodesk, David Crane. The parties discussed the creation of Autodesk Competence Center in Kazakhstan. Digital standards in the field of BIM (Building Information Modeling) will be introduced within the framework of the center. As a result of the trip, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Autodesk and Autonomous Cluster Fund Park of Innovative Technologies. Autodesk Company is also participating in the creation of a Kazakhstan laboratory for approbation and certification of new construction materials.

The Prime Minister held a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bridge West Group, Masi Taebi. As a results of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding with Kazakhtelecom JSC, providing for possible cooperation in acquiring the equipment of an American company with a view to large-scale development of Internet access networks, was signed.

A meeting with Managing Partner at Learn Capital, G.Mauro, took place. As a results, a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Information and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the development of a pilot project of innovative education in the model of the so-called “charter schools” was held.

B.Sagintayev held negotiations with the Chairman of Soundhound Inc, K.Mohajer. The Company can become a potential partner of Kazakhstan to implement joint projects in the field of information technologies.

During his working trip to the US, the Prime Minister met with President of Robomatter Inc, Skip Smith. The possibility of applying innovative educational programs of the company in Kazakhstan was discussed during the meeting.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, visited the office of Tesla Motors and discussed with the representatives of the company innovative technologies in the field of engineering, production of electric vehicles, and introduction of unmanned vehicle management. In addition, within the framework of the visit of Tesla Motors, Kazatomprom provided concrete proposals on possible cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources.

Further, Bakytzhan Sagintayev held talks with Chevron’s Chairman John Watson. The situation and forecasts for the development of the world market of petroleum products, the expansion of cooperation in oil and gas projects in our country was discussed during the meeting.

B.Sagintayev visited the Uber office and held a meeting with B.Masiello, head of world politics and economics. Uber is an American, international company from San Francisco. The company created mobile application for searching, calling and paying for taxis or private drivers. According to the data for 2016, service through the application was available in more than 70 countries around the world.

The Prime Minister visited the office of a large company to support DFJ start-up projects and met with its founder T.Draper. DFJ intends to support a number of Kazakhstan companies. It is worth noting that DFJ is focused on investing in projects in the early stages and at the stage of growth in the field of technology. The support of such a large company is especially important in the creation of the International Technology Park of IT-startups AIST HUB in Kazakhstan. It will become a platform for attracting investors and developing business in digital and information technology industries.

The Prime Minister visited the office of the Silicon Valley Innovation Center and met with a group of experts and the President of the Center A. Kunov. The Innovation Center has extensive links with the leadership of the leading Silicon Valley companies, the largest venture funds and investors, successful entrepreneurs, representatives of the business and public elite and provide internships, workshops and business tours.

The Prime Minister visited the office of Silicon Valley Innovation Center and met with a group of experts and the President of the Center, A. Kunov. The Innovation Center has extensive links with the leadership of the leading Silicon Valley companies, the largest venture funds and investors, successful entrepreneurs, representatives of the business and public elite and provide internships, workshops and business tours.

B.Sagintayev held a series of meetings with the leadership of Plug and Play Tech Centerand start-ups. It should be noted that Plug and Play Tech Center is a business accelerator that specializes in the development of startups. It unites over 300 start-ups and has more than 170 investors regularly participating in the selection of companies under the aegis of this incubator.

After that, the Prime Minister visited the office of Jabil Company. It is one of the world’s largest manufacturing companies, providing comprehensive services for the design and development of electronics for global technology corporations in a wide variety of industries. Such world companies as Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Cisco and others are among its clients.

The company helps to bring electronic products to market and provides the entire supply chain management around the world. Jabil’s solutions in the field of design, production and intelligent supply chain management are also interesting in the field of engineering. Cooperation with similar companies is of great importance for Kazakhstan in the framework of implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev on the Third Modernization of the Economy.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev visited Google office in San Francisco. He got acquainted with the latest developments of IT companies, discussed with the employees interesting projects for Kazakhstan. Among them: Real Time Speech Translation and Loon program Project. Special balloons, which are located on the stratospheric heights, can transmit Internet to terrestrial consumers, especially in remote settlements.

Also, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan held a meeting with Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Corporation, D. Levin. The issue of introduction of software solutions of the company in the small schools of the Republic of Kazakhstan was discussed. The use of modern methods of education and the introduction of information and communication technologies can improve the quality in low-grade schools and equalize the level of education between rural and urban schools. Representatives of American business and expert circles highly appreciated the policy of the President of Kazakhstan, N.Nazarbayev, to ensure sustainable economic growth and modernization of Kazakhstan, as well as diversification and enhancement of the country’s investment attractiveness.

“Kazakhstan has never retreated to world challenges and complex problems. The country’s leadership is moving in the right direction, ” Peter Tichansky, Director General of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) said.

“Investors support the Third modernization of Kazakhstan, 5 institutional reforms and the “100 concrete steps” plan of the President N.Nazarbayev,” Ashok Paramewaran, General Director of Insurance Corporation, American International Group, said.

“Kazakhstan is carrying out big reforms. This is the right decision in the new reality,” the well-known economist, A. Laffer, said.

In turn, former Mayor of New York, R. Giuliani noted that Kazakhstan is important for the US, especially taking into account the geopolitical location of our country.

As a result of the working trip of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, to the United States, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan will prepare a special Roadmap for developing cooperation with Silicon Valley.
