Bakytzhan Sagintayev familiarizes with the construction of a new passenger terminal of Astana Airport
In anticipation of the International Exhibition EXPO-2017, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Sagintayev visited the Astana Airport, got acquainted with the progress of construction of new passenger terminals, and also heard a report on the operation of the airport’s functioning terminal.
Reconstruction of Astana airport’s passenger terminal is carried out within the framework of implementing the Nurly Zhol Program since January 2015. The project involves the construction of a terminal with a total area of 47 000 square meters, after finishing which the airport capacity will be more than 8.2 million passengers per year.
It is expected that by June 1, the new terminal will be ready for its first passengers.
It should be noted that from 10 June to 10 September this year, Astana will host the International Exhibition EXPO-2017 on “Energy of the Future”. To date, official confirmation of participation in the exhibition has been received from 115 countries and 21 international organizations. During this period, it is expected that the capital will be visited by about 2 million tourists from abroad and regions of Kazakhstan.
