B. Sagintayev holds a meeting on civil aviation development
Today in Ukimet Uyi, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev chaired a meeting on issues of the development of civil aviation, attended by heads of major national airlines.
The meeting covered issues of improving the efficiency of state regulation of air transportation to increase the attractiveness of air transit through Kazakhstan within the framework of the implementation of the 68th Step of the Plan of the Nation 100 concrete steps, further improving the safety of flights and the quality of training of domestic personnel.
Minister of Investments and Development Zh. Kassymbek reported on the current general state of the development of civil aviation.
According to the Ministry of Investments and Development, passenger traffic growth rates for 2017 amounted to 23%. In terms of compliance with ICAO safety requirements, Kazakhstan ranks second among the CIS countries.
In terms of infrastructure development, work has been completed on the reconstruction of 15 runways and 11 terminals.
The meeting was also addressed by Minister of Energy K. Bozumbaev, Governor of the Astana International Financial Center K. Kelimbetov, Executive Director for Planning of Air Astana JSC A. Aliguzhina, President of SCAT Airlines JSC V. Denisov, Chairman of the Board of Qazaq Air JSC A. Blair, Director General of Bek Air JSC S. Omarzhanov and others.
Following the discussion, Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructed the Ministry of Investments and Development together with concerned state agencies and national companies to form a working group and develop comprehensive programs for the development of big and small aviation.
