Astana supported ecological action “Earth Hour”
Deputy Mayor of Astana Yermek Amanshayev thanked the residents of the capital for participation in such a large-scale event.
“On behalf of the Mayor’s Office of Astana, I thank you for supporting this planetary action. This project has existed for 10 years, but today it was supported by more than 2 billion people on the planet. This, indeed, has become such the planetary project. More than 7 thousand cities simultaneously took part in the action”, – the Deputy Mayor noted.
According to Ye. Amanshayev, this action is a symbol of careful attitude to nature.
“This is a very noble, positive action. Astana is very active in it. Over one 100 religious objects of the city, not only buildings, but also bridges, squares, whole streets participate in it. I congratulate you on this, I think, in our city there will be other similar projects on ecology, which are designed to change the attitude of man to nature. I thank on behalf of the Mayor’s Office the organizers of the action”, – Ye. Amanshayev reported.
In the framework of the event, the bright ecological initiatives of WWF in Kazakhstan were presented.
Let us note that “Earth Hour” was held under the auspices of “National Arbor Day” with the aim of preserving and restoring forests, arrangement of urban green areas, public participation in preserving and multiplying the forest resources of Kazakhstan.
During the action WWF calls to turn off the light for one hour, as a sign of personal involvement to the future of the planet. People of 7 thousand cities from 175 countries joined the action worldwide.
