Astana hosts meeting of Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Akorda. Today the Heads of States will participate in the 13th Interregional Cooperation Forum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
V.Putin arrived in Astana for a working visit. The Russian delegation includes representatives of ministries and departments, as well as regional counterparts, including governors of the Russian regions.
“I cannot but congratulate you on the successful holding of parliamentary elections, regional elections. This is a big victory for you and for Russia. It shows the high authority of the President. It is the eighth meeting in this year, and this meeting is very important,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said welcoming the Head of the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed issues of bilateral relations, tourism cooperation, as well as cooperation in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
In addition, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Putin will perform at the business forum with participation of prominent entrepreneurs of both countries, and will take part in the 13th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum, which will hold talks on development of projects of transport and logistics complex of the two countries of a total value worth 25 billion US dollars, as well as reduction of trade barriers between Russia and Kazakhstan.
V.Putin thanked the Head of State for the warm welcome and emphasized the timeliness and relevance of the initiative of conducting the business forum.
“Certainly, relations between Russia and Kazakhstan have a character of strategic partnership and alliance. We collaborate almost in all areas. Yes, we know there are some problems, but, even considering these circumstances which lead to a small correction in the trade and economic turnover, we have to react to it, look for options, and your initiative to hold the business forum is very urgent and important,” President of the Russian federation said.
