Apostolic Nuncio in Kazakhstan: The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is a unique platform for addressing the challenges of our time
The Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament, the head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Dariga Nazarbayeva, received the Apostolic Nuncio in Kazakhstan, Francis Assisi Chullikata.
The Vatican representative praised Kazakhstan’s efforts to strengthen global security by overcoming divisions between religions and cultures through peaceful dialogue. The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is a unique platform for solving the problems and challenges of our time, he said.
Speaking about the constructive interaction of Kazakhstan and the Vatican, the Head of the Senate noted that Kazakhstan was the first and only country in Central Asia visited by the Pontiff. The visit of Pope John Paul II to Astana in 2001 was one of the significant events for our country. D. Nazarbayeva informed that she plans to visit the Vatican in preparation for the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
Noting the successful experience of the pediatric clinic in the Vatican, the Head of the Senate proposed to establish cooperation between the Vatican and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan to provide medical care to Kazakhstani children and teach our doctors advanced technologies.
The Apostolic Nuncio in Kazakhstan raised the issue of visa support for the clergy of the Vatican. They are forced to renew their visa annually, which creates some inconvenience. The head of the Senate took control of this problem. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already begun work in this direction; it is necessary to regulate interdepartmental procedures.
During the meeting, the prospects of cooperation of the N. Nazarbayev Center for the development of interfaith and intercivilizational with UN organizations were also discussed .
