An Agenda of the Regular Meeting of the Senate was Determined

As proposed by the President of the country K. Tokayev, the dismissal of some judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan and distribution of the bills approved by the Mazhilis between the committees and proposals on the agenda of the next meeting of the upper chamber of the Parliament were considered at the meeting of the Senate Bureau. In addition, amendments were made to the Senate Plan of Key Actions.

In his speech, Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev pointed out that the effective and efficient legislative support for the modernization agenda of the Head of State was the key task of the upper chamber of the country’s Parliament. In this vein, within the framework of the Senate Plan of Actions, some priorities were identified for the upcoming period. These included rural development, support for small and medium-sized businesses, promotion of national and cultural values in society and other areas.

“Parliamentary hearings and round tables will be organized. Work will continue on the timely introduction of amendments to the Laws together with the Mazhilis of the Parliament and the Government. Positive solutions to these and many other issues will definitely contribute to improving the standard of living of the Kazakhstanis,” Maulen Ashimbayev said.

The presentation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan On the Dismissal of Judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan was the first issue on the agenda. The preparation of opinions on the candidates submitted by the President was entrusted to the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Judicial System and Law Enforcement Agencies.

The Committee on Finance and Budget will work on a bill on ratification of the Agreement on the Exchange of Information on Goods and Vehicles of International Transport Moved across the Customs Borders of the Eurasian Economic Union and the People’s Republic of China.

The Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science has been entrusted with making conclusions for the draft Code on People’s Health and the Healthcare System. In addition, a bill on amendments to certain legislative acts on health issues has been submitted to this Committee.

The Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Judicial System and Law Enforcement Agencies will start working on amending the Civil Procedural Code of Kazakhstan to introduce modern court operation forms and reduce excessive court procedures and costs.

The agenda of the meeting of the Senate of the Parliament to be held on May 21 was determined at the meeting of the Bureau.

The senators are planning to consider the following issues: dismissal of judges of the Supreme Court, ratification of the Agreement on the Mechanism of Traceability for the Goods Imported into the Customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, the draft Constitutional Law On Amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan’, the draft laws On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On Political Parties’ and On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan concerning Restricted and Limited Areas at the Arsenals, Bases and Warehouses of the Armed Forces, Other Troops and Military Units.
