Aidarken mercury plant employees staged a warning strike for failure to receive their salaries on March 31, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Mining and Metallurgical Trade Union of Kyrgyzstan Eldar Tadjibaev said. Workers did not get paid for February, the debt tops 12 million soms. More than 600 people are employed at the plant. Turkish contractor Duvatas LLC has a contract with the plant to do joint production and processing of mercury, antimony, and fluorite. However, the company is having financing problems for some reasons, the union said. Chairman of the Trade Union committee of the company Taiyr Murzarahmatov told Turmush that the workers had a meeting with the leadership of the Kadamjai district administration and representatives of Duvatas on March 31. The workers were told that they will be get paid on Monday, April 3. The workers warned to be no-show at work if this promise will not be kept.
