Agrt on goods labeling to be signed by Governments of EAEU countries

According to the EEC, the document prepared by Commission’s working group was sent to the Governments of the countries of the Union. In the future, after the approval by the EEC Council, the agreement will be proposed for adoption and signing by the heads of the Government of the member states. It is expected that it will be signed before the end of 2017.

“When drafting the agreement, special attention was paid to creating conditions for the protection of consumers’ rights, as well as life and health of a person, ensuring the legal turnover of goods on the territory of the EAEU. The document defines the main marking mechanisms and ensures the implementation of the principle of traceability of goods circulating on the customs territory of the Union. What kind of goods will fall under its influence will be decided later at the meeting of the Council of EEC”, the Commission explained.

In accordance with the proposed draft agreement, the goods should be marked with unified means within the framework of the EAEU, with information about which will be recorded in a single register. The EEC will form and maintain the register.

General requirements for means of identification should be their computer readability and technological compatibility (reciprocity).
