Address by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the people of Kazakhstan

Closed

Dear citizens of Kazakhstan, compatriots!

My dear brother!

Dear colleagues, members of “Nur Otan” party!

You know that in my most important historical moments I appeal to my people.

And today I have to appeal to all of you.

But today’s appeal is important.

I have decided to terminate my powers as the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is not an easy solution.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of my country’s highest post.

My people gave me the opportunity to become the first President of independent Kazakhstan.

At the time of the collapse of the Soviet Empire, our politics and economy collapsed. Inside the country there was an incomprehensible situation.

Gross domestic product reduced twice, deficit of foodstuffs and consumer goods was evident. At one point all large factories stopped. The world seemed to be reversed.

It was a trial. We have been steadfastly steadily stepping forward and have begun to build the Kazakhstan way of development.

Our three-dimensional task is to create a market economy, to break the totalitarian ideological system, and to modernize all institutions of society. We have done this to create a modern democratic state – the Republic of Kazakhstan.

We understood that we can not build democratic institutions with weak economies and unemployed citizens, focusing on economic development and improvement of welfare of our citizens. As a result, we have reduced our economy by 15 times, and the income of the population – 9 times (in dollars) and reduced the poverty line by about 10 times.

We have managed to overcome all the difficulties we have encountered, including the global financial crisis of 2007-2012.

Kazakhstan has moved from the agrarian economy to the industrial-service economy. The process of industrialization and urbanization of the country is under way. The world’s largest investors came to the raw material sector.

Thanks to it, we have managed to implement complex projects in the oil and gas sector.

Fund for future generations of Kazakhstanis has been created at the expense of raw materials resources. Kazakhstan has become an integral part of the global economy. We invest and invest in almost all countries around the world.

The new infrastructure of the country has been created. All regions of the country are connected by highways and railways. And aviation routes make it possible to travel all over the world.

Kazakhstan has not become a big state only in its territory. Today, the number of our citizens exceeds 18 million. The day of 20 million is not too far away.

We have joined the 50 most advanced countries in the world. The development program till 2050 has been developed. Our goal is to become one of the top 30 developed countries.

We have created a successful Kazakhstani state with a modern market economy on the place of the collapse of the USSR, and have established peace and stability in our multinational and multiconfessional country. For the first time in many centuries history we have ensured the international legal recognition of the Republic of Kazakhstan. We have incorporated Kazakhstan as a country into the world map. We have our own Flag, Our Anthem and the Coat of Arms.

We have started to train specialists in the Bolashak program during the most difficult period of the 1990s. We have helped young people to get decent education and study the world experience, and have opened a way for them to benefit the country.

Despite the global crisis, we built a world-class university in Astana and built intellectual schools. I hope that young people born in the years of sovereignty will appreciate the state care. These are young eagles flying in independent Kazakhstan.

I am confident that young people will protect and strengthen our country, and will spend their knowledge and efforts on prosperity of our Homeland.

For the first time in history of our country we built our capital. Astana is a bright example of all our achievements and victories.

All this has been done with you, dear Kazakh people.

All the elections in these years you trust me and support my initiatives. It was a great happiness for me to serve my great people, my homeland. I express my deepest gratitude to all of you – my people.

Thanks to this support, I devoted myself to working hard to justify all your efforts, my health, my time.

As you know, in accordance with our laws, I have the status of the First President – Leader of the Nation. I continue to serve as Chairman of the Security Council with significant authority. Chairman of the “Nur Otan” party, member of the Constitutional Council.

That is, I will be with you. The concern of our country and our people is my interest.

My next task as the founder of the independent Kazakhstan is to ensure the coming of the new generation of leaders. They will continue the process of modernization of our country.

The continuity of power in Kazakhstan is constitutional. In case of early termination of powers of the President his powers shall be transferred to the Chairman of the Senate until expiration of his term of office. Then there will be a new presidential election.

Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. You know it well. He is a graduate of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Doctor of Science. Fluent in English and Chinese. The management has been working in positions and accumulated extensive experience. During the years of formation of the country’s foreign policy, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister, Chairman of the Senate. He knows our country, its economy and politics.

He worked as Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations. This is a result of her merits as a diplomat and a great deal of confidence in Kazakhstan.

She has been working with me since the early days of Kazakhstan’s independence. I know it well. He is a honest and responsible citizen. The country’s internal and external policies are comprehensive. He took part in the development and adoption of all programs.

I hope Kasym-Zhomart Kemelovich is a worthy citizen of Kazakhstan.

Dear compatriots!

We see that the world is constantly changing, not in one place.

In addition to new opportunities, global technological and demographic challenges are emerging, and world order is becoming more and more destabilizing.

Each generation has its own task. Me and my contemporaries did everything for our country.

The results are known to you. The world is changing and new generations come. This is a natural process. They will solve the problems of their time. It should also strive for further prosperity of the country.

Together with the world, we must also change. I want to say to the young Kazakhstani people: to save our independent Kazakhstan, our common homeland, our eternal country. It is our people, the place of our great ancestors. Both our homeland and our land.

Keep friendship and unity of our people, trust in each other, and respect the culture and traditions of every citizen of our country.

Only then will we be strong and endure all the hardships.

Only then will we prosper.

Dear citizens of Kazakhstan!

My fellow countrymen!

I dedicate today’s word for each of you.

Our country faces huge challenges. I believe we will succeed.

How do I picture the future of Kazakhstan?

I am convinced that the future Kazakhstani people will form the society of free, knowledgeable, speaking people of three languages.

They are citizens of the world. They travel the world. They want to acquire new knowledge. They are hardworking. They are patriots of their country.

I hope that Kazakhstan will become a universal labor society by 2050.

This is a strong state with a strong economy. His education and health will be the best. Peace and tranquility create a triumph. Citizens are free and equal, and their power will be fair. Laws in this country dominate.

I’m sure we’re on the right track. Nothing can lead us away from the right path.

If we are strong, all will count on us.

If we give up on some power or somebody else, we will lose everything we have achieved.
