About 2 million women received payments for maternity and childcare up to one year from the SSIF
In 2018, more than 250 thousand people received social benefits to care for a child under 1 year from the SFSA in the amount of 96 billion tenge, the average size per month was 32,361 tenge.
Support for motherhood and childhood is a key priority of our country’s social policy. In Kazakhstan, families planning to have children are provided with comprehensive social support. The Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides for a number of guarantees that allow women to combine work and family duties, said Almas Kurmanov, president of the State Social Insurance Fund JSC.
One of them is maternity leave for working women. After registration of such leave, the expectant mother applies for social payment for pregnancy and childbirth, adoption (adoption) of a newborn child (children) from the State Social Insurance Fund (SIFF). This payment is made as a lump sum on all vacation days. Its size depends on the income from which social contributions to the SSCF were paid for the last year of the woman’s work.
In 2018 in Kazakhstan, 188 thousand women were assigned social payments for maternity leave in the amount of 69 billion tenge. At the end of last year, the average amount of such payments amounted to 391,170 tenge. After childbirth, all women, regardless of whether they worked or not, are paid a lump sum from the budget in the amount of: first, second, third child 95,950 tenge, for a fourth or more child 159,075 tenge, said Almas Kurmanov .
In addition, social support is provided for the care of a child up to 1 year old, which is provided to both working and nonworking mothers.
If the mother of the child does not work, then after the birth of the child, she is granted childcare allowance up to 1 year from the budget, which is paid every month. The average benefit is from 14.5 thousand to 22.5 thousand tenge per month, depending on the order of birth of the child. If the mother of the child worked and social contributions were received for her, then she receives a monthly social payment for the care of a child up to 1 year from the SSIF. The size of this payment is 40% of the average monthly income for the last 2 years before the birth of the child, he explained.
In addition, according to the speaker, the state subsidizes mandatory maternity contributions to women on maternity leave. This is done to ensure that a woman does not interrupt her pension savings while she is on maternity leave.
From the day of the introduction of compulsory insurance of maternity and childhood in Kazakhstan from 2008 to 2018, about 2 million women received payments for pregnancy and childbirth, as well as child care for up to one year from the SFSF, concluded the president of GFSS JSC.
