A.Mukhamediuly and SCO Secretary General discussed holding of cultural events in Astana
At the meeting the sides discussed a joint plan of cultural and sporting events within the framework of the Summit of the Heads of States of the SCO member states and the opening of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana on June 6-11.
During the conversation the sides noted the high level of the existing bilateral relations in the sphere of development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The SCO Secretary General called the forthcoming SCO Summit under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan a historic event in the context of the forthcoming expansion of the membership of the SCO member states and the entry of India and Pakistan into the organization.
“Culture strengthens solidarity among people, promotes the unity of peoples, favorably influences the adoption of positive political decisions. I am convinced that the results of the Astana summit will contribute to the further strengthening of the SCO’s positions on the international arena, as well as the development of a multifaceted and mutually beneficial cultural cooperation between our countries”, Alimov said.
In his turn A.Muhamediuly emphasized that for today the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is one of the most dynamically developing regional associations in the world.
“We are pleased with the rapid development of the cultural vector of the SCO. Along with security, trade and communication, it becomes an important activity of the organization. The active activity of our states in the framework of the Agreement between the governments of the SCO member states on cooperation in the field of culture, the traditional two-year action plans, as well as the annual meeting of the SCO culture ministers, is evidence of this, “the head of the Kazakh department said.
As noted during the conversation, every year on the territory of the member states of the organization events are held in the field of music, fine arts and decorative and applied creativity, which promote dialogue of cultures and civilizations, a wide exchange of experience and knowledge. The great potential in the field of culture allows states to intensify their work in the field of cinematography, archival, museum and publishing, translating works of printed matter, organizing and holding book fairs.
The Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization expressed satisfaction, noting the intense and active work of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan on the preparation of the 14th Meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the SCO member states, as well as the Arts Festival of the SCO member states to be held in the framework of the forthcoming summit in Astana.
The SCO Secretary General and the Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan also discussed the possibility of organizing and organizing the next SCO Marathon in Astana within the framework of the SCO Day at EXPO-2017.
