83 countries to enjoy visa-free regime in Kazakhstan since 2017
Citizens of 19 countries only have visa-free access to Kazakhstan thus far.
In the run up to EXPO 2017 in Astana and winter Universiade in Almaty, in order to create the most favorable conditions for foreign guests and to attract investors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues working on further visa facilitation and improving the efficiency of migration control and security. The procedure for obtaining single entry business, private and single and double entry visas by citizens of 48 economically developed countries has been simplified, Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Idrissov said at the CCS press conference.
To date, citizens of 19 countries only have visa-free access to Kazakhstan.
From January 1, 2017, citizens of 45 countries, including members of OECD and EU, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Principality of Monaco will get visa-free access to Kazakhstan 30 days long, E.Idrissov informed.
According to the Minister, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the media were last week presented new rules of issuing invitations and visas for foreign guests that enter into force on January 1, 2017.
Steps taken to liberalize the visa regime take into account the national interests of our country and the principle of reciprocity. In addition to the above-mentioned countries, the citizens of 19 other countries are exempt from visa requirements drawing on bilateral agreements signed. And we are negotiating the signing of similar agreements with a number of other countries, the Minister said.
According to E.Idrissov, the priority in this direction for Kazakhstan is ongoing negotiations with the European Union on facilitating visa regime for the citizens of our country.
Thus, new rules are designed to simplify the procedure of issuing invitations for foreign guests. The Minister is convinced that this will bring about additional opportunities for the business community to cooperate with external world and will facilitate contacts of Kazakhstanis with foreign partners.
